THE VIBE
Arriving here, you can’t help but feel a little smaller—not because the resort is imposing, but because the Dolomites rise quietly and powerfully all around you.
Tucked away on the edge of the peaceful village of San Vigilio in South Tyrol, at the foot of Plan de Corones (Kronplatz), the Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort seems to step back and let nature take center stage.
Its design reflects that philosophy: expanses of glass for open views, local stone and warm wood to root you in place. Three distinct buildings—the historic Castello, the modern Dolomites Lodge, and the cozy Residence—come together as an ensemble that feels effortless and grounded. From almost every room, you’ll look out onto forests, meadows, or dramatic rock faces that seem to edge closer with each passing day.
But what truly makes the Excelsior special isn't just its location—it’s the people behind it. The Call family, passionate local hosts, lead the resort with heart, presence, and a love for their homeland. You’ll see them at breakfast, on guided hikes, or out on bike tours—always with a warm welcome and genuine curiosity.
And that spirit runs deep. It shows in the kindness of the team, in the natural ease of the experience, and in how everything is offered, but nothing is expected. Join in, or unwind in solitude—either way, it feels just right.

THE STAY
At the Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort, rooms and suites are far more than just a place to sleep—they're your private retreat with a view.
Everything here is designed to draw your gaze outward. Floor-to-ceiling windows invite the Dolomites right to your bedside, while clean lines and natural materials create a space that feels both minimalist and warmly comforting.
Larch wood, soft linen, and natural stone set the tone—nothing feels forced or overly styled. The palette is subtle: earthy tones, lots of natural light. You’ll sleep deeply—maybe it’s the crisp mountain air drifting through the terrace door—and wake with the sun on your face and the peaks still wrapped in early morning mist.
Come evening, the room transforms into a serene stage: a glass of wine on the balcony, the sky fading into soft orange over the mountains, and the gentle glow of ambient light indoors. It’s easy to slow down here—or simply just be.
And if you're craving a deeper sense of relaxation: the 2,500 m² wellness area offers three distinct zones. Families will love the Dolomites Family Spa, full of little adventures for all ages. For those seeking quiet, the adults-only Dolomites Sky Spa (16+) is a true highlight: an infinity rooftop pool stretching into the mountain view, panoramic saunas, a firelit lounge, spacious sun terrace, and indoor relaxation spaces with sweeping views. And for an extra treat, head to the historic Castello di Dolasilla Spa for massages and soothing treatments rooted in Alpine wellness traditions.
Between water, warmth, silence, and scenery, something intangible begins to take hold—a deep, lasting sense of well-being you carry with you long after you’ve left.

What do the little guests look forward?
For kids, the Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort quickly feels like a second home—only with more room to run, explore, and be amazed.
At the on-site Kids Club, little ones can dive into a world of play zones, discovery corners, and plenty of space to just be themselves. Older children and teens will find their own kind of fun in the Junior Club, complete with video games, billiards, ping pong, and more.
The Dolomites Family Spa is a water paradise just for families—with a slide, heated indoor and outdoor pools, a textile sauna, and cozy relaxation zones. For those who like it a bit more adventurous, there’s a natural playground right outside the hotel—and a climbing wall for little daredevils ready to test their courage.
And the best part? Kids here get to be kids—no forced entertainment, no schedules, just real freedom, fresh air, and movement.
While the little ones are happily entertained and well cared for, parents can slip away to the adults-only Sky Spa and soak in a few hours of mountain-side serenity.

THE FOOD
At the Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort, breakfast isn’t just a meal—it’s a morning ritual, a gentle welcome to a new day in the Dolomites.
Each morning begins with a themed buffet that changes daily, featuring crusty breads from local bakeries, honey and cheese from South Tyrolean farms, seasonal fruits, and freshly prepared eggs or crêpes. It’s a celebration of the region—warm, nourishing, and full of flavor.
Midday brings a light lunch buffet, ideal for a relaxed break after a morning on the trails. Think soups, crisp salads, and warm snacks—simple, satisfying, and never rushed.
In the afternoon, the traditional South Tyrolean “Jause” offers a delicious energy boost: hearty cold cuts, homemade cakes, fresh fruit, and tea or juice—a little moment of indulgence before the evening begins.
Dinner, however, is where things truly shine. The four-course gourmet menu features a choice of dishes, paired with a generous salad and ice cream buffet. The kitchen artfully blends Mediterranean ease with Alpine authenticity, crafting a culinary journey through the region.
And because food should always feel personal, there are thoughtful options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and low-calorie preferences—each dish prepared with care by chefs Karol and Reni, who’ve been shaping the Excelsior’s kitchen for over 20 years.
One of the loveliest touches? You dine each evening at your own table, with warm, familiar service from the Call family and their attentive team. The wine list—elegantly browsed via tablet—offers curated local selections, perfect for toasting to mountaintop memories or simply savoring the moment.

THE ADVENTURE
The Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort doesn’t just sit in the mountains—it lives and breathes them.
Right outside the door, you’ll find hiking trails, mountain biking routes, and—come winter—perfectly groomed ski slopes on the Kronplatz.
Four times a week, the hotel offers guided tours with certified mountain guides, often led by Tamara and Werner Call themselves. Whether on foot or two wheels, it’s all about sharing the experience, not racing to the summit.
A true summer highlight: hiking through the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park—perhaps to the rustic Rifugio Fodara Vedla, across wide alpine pastures and along old military trails, with views that take your breath away.
Looking for culture with a view? Take the gondola up the Kronplatz, where you’ll find not only 360° panoramas, but also two remarkable museums: the Messner Mountain Museum Corones, dedicated to the spirit of alpinism, and LUMEN, a striking space for mountain photography that inspires and surprises in equal measure.
In summer, Kronplatz becomes a paradise for mountain bikers, with flow trails, downhill tracks, and gentler panoramic rides—all starting right at the hotel. E-bikes are available for rent, so no climb is out of reach.
Come winter, the mountain transforms into one of South Tyrol’s most varied ski areas, with over 100 km of slopes, plus cross-country trails, winter hiking paths, and sledding runs.
Just a short drive away lies the famous Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee)—a jewel-toned lake set against soaring cliffs. While it’s undeniably stunning, it draws crowds in peak season. For a more serene visit, come early—or better yet, in the quieter shoulder months.
Whether you're after adrenaline or stillness, the Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort offers something for every pace—and every age. Sometimes, all you need to do is step outside. And sometimes, it’s enough to simply stay right where you are.
