THE VIBE

Bergwiesenglück is the kind of mountain retreat that invites you to leave your plans at the door. A place where days unfold slowly, where time stretches and softens, and where doing absolutely nothing feels like the most luxurious thing in the world. Even when autumn’s first rainy days roll in and low-hanging clouds blur the peaks across the valley, it only adds to the charm.

Truth be told, heading out early for a long hike would almost feel like missing out. You’d miss the stillness that hangs gently over Bergwiesenglück, perched at 1,250 meters among the wildflower meadows of the Paznaun. True to its name—“mountain meadow happiness”—this place leaves you just a little bit lighter, a little more content.

It’s that rare balance of seclusion and service that makes this chalet village so special. Think the privacy of your own alpine hideaway, paired with all the comforts of a boutique hotel. And then, of course, there’s the team—warm, thoughtful, and effortlessly welcoming—who turn a beautiful stay into something truly unforgettable.

THE STAY

Bergwiesenglück strikes just the right balance between boutique hotel and alpine chalet village, offering an exclusive blend of private chalets and stylish spa suites. What makes it truly special is the architecture of its twelve spa chalets, inspired by the traditional timber barns still scattered across the Paznaun Valley. With their modern wooden facades, cleverly designed for both privacy and sun protection, these chalets turn heads for all the right reasons.

Inside, it’s all about natural materials, earthy tones, and a carefully curated interior that instantly makes you feel at home. Spread over three floors, each chalet features two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a cozy kids’ room with bunk beds, a compact kitchen, and a spacious living and dining area complete with a traditional wood-burning stove.

Head downstairs, and you’ll quickly understand why these are called Spa Chalets. Each one comes with its own private sauna, ready to heat up to your ideal temperature in minutes, and an outdoor alpine tub that fills with perfectly warm water at the push of a button. Relaxation, guaranteed.

Speaking of warm water, there’s also the shared infinity pool, heated to a soothing 30°C, where you can swim a few laps while gazing out at the Paznaun mountains. If you're still feeling energetic after a day in the peaks, the compact but well-equipped fitness “Stadl” offers everything from a treadmill and stepper to an ergometer and a multi-gym—with mountain views, of course.

And because families are more than welcome here, little ones are well taken care of too. Children can splash alongside their parents in the infinity pool or let off steam in the dedicated kids’ play barn, complete with climbing frames, slides, and room to run wild. Even on rainy days, there’s plenty to keep them happy and busy.

THE FOOD

Freshly baked bread from the village bakerymilk and butter from the local dairy, and wild game straight from the property’s own hunt—at Bergwiesenglück, regional sourcing isn’t just a trend, it’s a way of life. But it’s not just about where the ingredients come from; it’s the culinary finesse that the kitchen team at Hermann’s Kitchen brings to the table that makes every meal memorable.

It all starts with breakfast. Alongside a generous buffet stocked with freshly baked bread, cold cuts, cheeses, jams, muesli, juices, and more, guests can also order from a small à la carte menu featuring sweet and savory bites as well as classic egg dishes. With beautifully plated creations and thoughtful touches, even the first meal of the day feels like a taste of fine dining.

Come evening, Hermann’s Kitchen truly shines. The dinner menu is open not just to hotel guests, but also to visitors from outside—and it's worth the detour. Expect elevated Tyrolean cuisine, prepared with exceptional care, and unexpected highlights like Tyrolean-style sushi, which combines alpine flavors with Japanese technique in the most delicious way.

For those staying on half-board, dining is delightfully flexible: simply choose your favorite starter, main, and dessert from the à la carte menu to create your own perfect meal each evening. There are also daily specials, curated with seasonal flair.

The only real mistake you can make here? Not staying long enough to sample everything on the menu.

THE ADVENTURE

Sure, staying at Bergwiesenglück is so lovely, you might be tempted to never leave. But with the Paznaun mountainsright outside your door, heading out to explore is more than worth it.

Just steps from the chalet doors lies the See hiking and ski area, where the gondola runs year-round—taking you up the mountain whether it’s for wildflower trails in summer or powder runs in winter. Until mid-October, the lifts and alpine huts are open for the summer season. After that, it’s the perfect time to explore the quieter trails at your own pace. Not far away, the family-friendly hiking area of Kappl also offers plenty of scenic paths and gentle adventures.

If you prefer to explore on two wheels, mountain bikes are available to borrow directly at Bergwiesenglück. With trailheads practically on your doorstep, the journey starts the moment you saddle up.

On rainy days, take a short drive to Ischgl and dive into the new Silvretta Therme. With panoramic indoor pools, a sprawling sauna complex, and a tempting range of spa treatments, it’s the kind of place where hours melt away with ease.

And no stay in the region would be complete without a drive along the Silvretta High Alpine Road—one of the most stunning mountain routes in the Alps. Connecting Tyrol and Vorarlberg, the road climbs to over 2,000 meters, reaching the Bielerhöhe pass. From there, you can embark on a scenic hike around the Silvretta Reservoir, or choose from a variety of trails surrounded by jaw-dropping alpine views.
