Diringlo
OHLSTADT - BAVARIA
Step back in time — and slow down while you're at it. The Diringlo farmhouse has been standing for over 400 years, and it’s got the stories (and creaky floorboards) to prove it. Nestled in the heart of Upper Bavaria, it's surrounded by wide-open views, peaceful paths, and iconic mountains and lakes right outside the door. Spend a few days here and you’ll see: clocks seem to tick slower, and switching off suddenly feels effortless.
Hotelstory, through the lens and words of Mela Hipp

Why DIRINGLO stole our hearts:
- Modern meets rustic: A 400-year-old farmhouse, thoughtfully updated with modern comforts
- Hidden but central: A peaceful retreat right in the middle of Bavaria’s best-known sights
-
No schedule required: This is a place to live at your own pace
DIRINGLO is the place to be if you’re:
- Big families or friend groups who want space to themselves
- Outdoor lovers looking for adventure at their doorstep
- Guests craving calm, quiet, and a slower rhythm

What's the vibe?
Looking for peace and quiet with postcard-worthy alpine views? Welcome to Diringlo — a lovingly preserved historic farmhouse where nothing is rushed and everything feels grounded. The house wears its age proudly, with slanted walls, low ceilings, and floors that tell their own tales with every creak.
And yet, it’s far from stuck in the past. Step into Suite LUGGI, for example, and you’ll find sleek, glass walls softened by wooden slats — strikingly modern, yet still warm and inviting.
Located right in the village center, with views of the Heimgarten and Herzogstand peaks, Diringlo bridges old-world charm with laid-back modern living. Whether you're up for full days of hiking or prefer long, slow mornings with coffee in hand — this place gives you space to do both.

What’s like to stay here?
Traditional and cozy or open and modern? At Diringlo, you’ve got options. The three suites are tucked into what used to be the farmhouse’s living quarters, the old stables, and even the hayloft — sleeping anywhere from two to seven guests.
Suite SEFFA might just be the gem of the property. With its antique tiled stove, original wood-paneled bedrooms, and a cozy parlor, it feels like stepping into another era — one where you’ll have to duck through the door and listen to the charming creak of the floorboards as you go. It’s traditional Bavarian living, with a touch of luxury.
On the flip side, Suites KATHI and LUGGI are all about light, openness, and clean lines — think high ceilings, exposed beams, and original stone walls paired with modern furniture and design details.
And when the sun’s out? The garden is where you’ll want to be — with comfy outdoor seating and a firepit perfect for long, laid-back evenings under the stars.

What’s on the menu?
One of the perks of a self-catering stay? You set the schedule. Roll out of bed in your pajamas, fire up the coffee machine, and whip up breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen — maybe even make a plan for the day while you're at it. No dress code, no rush, just slow, simple mornings.
Dinner works the same way: eat when you're hungry, not when the hotel restaurant tells you it’s time. While the kids play in the garden, you can cook up something delicious, then gather around the table — no need to insist on formal manners or sitting still ‘til dessert.
Prefer to let someone else handle the cooking? Ohlstadt has a few great dining spots within walking distance — the Dorfbachstüberl is just three doors down and a local favorite. For fresh pastries and bread, the Luidl Bakery is just around the corner — you can pick something up or sit down for breakfast on-site. And the local supermarket has everything you need to stock up for your stay.

What’ there to do?
Diringlo’s location is pure gold: nestled between lakes and mountains, it’s the perfect launchpad in every direction. Head south to the Wetterstein range and the towering Zugspitze, west to the Ammer mountains, north to the beautiful “Blue Land” with its shimmering lakes, or east to Walchensee and Kochelsee.
Feeling active? The nearby peaks are a hiker’s paradise. Culture more your thing? Spend an afternoon strolling through charming towns like Garmisch or Murnau. And the best part? Ohlstadt is still a bit of a hidden gem — right in the middle of it all, but somehow still peaceful and untouched.
There’s plenty to explore right from your doorstep. Take a short walk with mountain views, wander to a local waterfall, or head to Eschenlohe — just a few minutes by car — where family-friendly hiking trails await. One local highlight is the Asamklamm, a narrow gorge where the Eschenlaine river flows over white dolomite rock. Cross the dramatic footbridge or walk down into the cool, clear waters — shoes off, toes in, worries gone.
