Why HOLZLEB'N stole our hearts:
-
Chalet living with heart & heritage: Cosy wooden lodges, lovingly furnished and bathed in the scent of larch, fir and stone pine – this is a place where nature and comfort are in perfect harmony.
-
A wonderland for little adventurers: Pony rides, petting zoo, forest playgrounds and kid-sized go-karts – at Holzleb’n, children are the true VIPs.
-
Rest and recharge for grown-ups: While the kids roam free, parents relax in their private sauna, savour breakfast in bed, or wind down with fondue and a glass of wine. It’s a farm holiday – but with a whirlpool and wine fridge.
HOLZLEB'N is the place to be if you’re:
-
Nature-loving families: Whether it’s feeding animals, hiking mountain trails, or splashing in an outdoor tub – this is where the wild meets the wonderful.
-
Comfort seekers with a taste for the good life: Fresh bread baskets at dawn, gourmet dinner deliveries at dusk, and all the luxury of a hotel – without the schedules or dress codes.
-
Curious minds of all sizes: From treehouses and trampolines to waterfalls and ice caves – Holzleb’n is a springboard for adventures both near and far.

THE VIBE
Holzleb’n is, at its heart, a farm stay – but one with a serious upgrade. Expect lovingly crafted chalets, thoughtful extras and that elusive blend of simplicity and style. Here, barefoot freedom meets five-star flair.
Children roam between the animals and the playgrounds, make friends in Woodi’s forest hideaway, and ride ponies with gleaming smiles. Parents, meanwhile, enjoy excellent food, cosy wellness moments and the joy of watching their kids totally switch off – and light up.

Wie wohne ich?
Whether you choose a chalet or a spacious apartment, one thing is certain: it’ll be snug, serene and scented with fresh alpine wood. Everything – from the larch roof beams to the stone pine beds – is locally sourced from the estate’s own forest.
Our chalet? The lovely Zirbenalm, complete with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a wood-burning stove, a big kitchen and a private sauna with a relaxation room.
And the cherry on top? A fenced garden with an outdoor bathtub that fills with hot water at the push of a button – perfect for rainy-day splashes and starry-night soaks.
There’s even a hidden kids’ nook under the stairs – filled with books, toys and cuddly mascots. It quickly became our daughter’s favourite hideout.

THE PLAY
How about a forest full of surprises, go-karts and bikes galore, and a petting zoo with ponies, goats and rabbits? From the moment they open their eyes, little explorers are off on their next mission – whether it’s a cuddle with a cat or a gallop around the riding paddock.
Pony rides are offered several times a week and included in your stay. And for budding equestrians, riding lessons are available too.
And yes – the team has thought of everything: stair gates, baby monitors, highchairs, child bike seats, laundry facilities, hiking carriers and more. Packing just got easier.

THE FOOD
Mornings start with a knock at the door and a breakfast hamper brimming with local treats: crusty bread, homemade jams, alpine cheese, Speck, honey, eggs – even fresh milk and coffee for the grown-ups and cocoa for the kids.
In the evening, you decide: cook a feast in your fully equipped kitchen, order a fondue set or hearty local classics, or enjoy a three-course menu delivered from the nearby steakhouse. Prefer to grill? They’ll bring the meat, veg and sauces straight to your door. Wine, beer and juice are ready-chilled in the central fridge.

THE ADVENTURE
Welcome to Grossarltal, the “Valley of Alpine Pastures” with over 40 traditional mountain huts, many of them child-friendly with playgrounds and petting animals.
Walk, bike or take the cable car – even prams can handle some of the scenic trails.
We loved the short hike to Heugathalm, a kids’ paradise with animals and a playground. The Breitenebenalm won us over with its food and family vibe. Or go all in on the Four-Alm Hike, linking four picture-perfect huts in one magical day.
Need a break from the outdoors? Day trips to waterfalls, gorges, wildlife parks or even ice caves are all within easy reach.
