DOLOMITES - SOUTH TYROL
At the foot of the Rosengarten – where legend meets stillness and nature meets intention – lies the Cyprianerhof. Not a typical spa hotel, but a place of presence. A retreat for those who seek
the quiet in between. Where Cultura Dolomiti is not just a philosophy, but a way of being – on mountain trails, in wide open views, and in every note of music drifting from the Culture
Lounge.
Hotelstory, through the lens and words of
Marika Unterladstätter

Why CYPRIANERHOF stole our hearts:
- Mountains, with meaning: Nestled at the foot of the legendary Rosengarten, the Cyprianerhof is more than just a place to stay – it’s a place to arrive. With views that widen the heart, and a philosophy that runs deep. Cultura Dolomiti isn’t a slogan here. It’s a way of life.
- Architecture that breathes: Sleek lines. Natural textures. Spaces filled with light. Indoors and outdoors blur into one, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing those jagged peaks – and the quiet that comes with them.
-
A kitchen with soul: Heirloom recipes, reimagined with a light hand and a love of the land. Monika and her team cook for people, not for show – with purpose, playfulness and
a deep respect for their roots.
CYPRIANERHOF is the place to be if you’re:
- Mountain hearts & silence seekers: Lace up your boots and leave the noise behind. Out there: alpine trails, forest stillness, soaring peaks. In here: warm saunas, quiet conversations, restful pauses.
- Culture lovers & deep thinkers: In the Culture Lounge, music is played, stories are shared and conversations flow. Culture isn’t an add-on – it’s the soul of the place.
- Travellers with open hearts: Run by people with vision and warmth, now in its third generation. Rooted in South Tyrolean tradition. Mindfully managed, consciously connected. True luxury? It’s quiet.

THE VIBE
High above the valley, where jagged peaks rise into the sky and the Rosengarten glows soft and golden at dusk, the story of King Laurin still lingers. Heartbroken and betrayed, the dwarf king once cursed his beloved rose garden to vanish from all human sight – by day and by night.
But he forgot the twilight. And so, even now, this magical corner of the Dolomites blushes pink every evening, as if the spell never quite took hold.
At the foot of this legendary mountain lies the Cyprianerhof – a place that hums with quiet energy. There’s a kind of presence here you won’t find in traditional spa hotels. Instead, it’s a space that feels lived in, honest, grounded. A place with soul.
They call it Cultura Dolomiti – a way of life that values nature, awareness, creativity and connection. It’s not just about rest. It’s about gently returning to yourself – out on a mountain trail, in a shared conversation, or in the silence of a panoramic spa lounge.
And then there’s the Similde Spa – named after the princess in the legend. Her second life, perhaps? One with hanging loungers and floor-to-ceiling views of the Rosengarten. We imagine she’d approve.
As for the people who bring this place to life: Michael is your host in the third generation, together with his partner Diego, who brings a touch of cultural brilliance to the house. Monika holds the reins in the kitchen. And Heidi is your guide to the mountains – and the kind of storyteller you’ll want to follow anywhere. It’s all part of the atmosphere here: open-hearted, quietly poetic, and unmistakably South Tyrolean.

THE STAY
There’s something about the stillness here that gets under your skin. The kind of quiet that settles in slowly – somewhere between the peaks of the Rosengarten and your own breath. You could sit for hours and simply count the mountain spires. From the balcony. The sauna. The pool. Even the breakfast terrace. The view is everywhere. And it does something to you. Quietly.
South-facing rooms frame the Rosengarten in all its drama – but don’t overlook the northern side: forest calm, the silhouette of the Schlern massif, and a kind of grounded peace that feels like exhaling. We especially love the Premium Room Valbon – all natural oak and stone, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a generous balcony that brings the outdoors in. Elegant, understated, with that alpine clarity that helps you unclutter your mind.
But staying at the Cyprianerhof is more than design. It’s part of the experience. Those who want connection will find it in the Culture Lounge – where music, readings and real conversations invite you to listen, to join in, or simply to be.
And then, there’s the world outside. Where every hike begins just beyond the door – whether it’s a quiet forest path, a rocky climb or a snow-covered trail in winter.
Because here, the rhythm is always the same: first, feel the mountain. Then, come back in and let it all sink in. Wellbeing at the Cyprianerhof isn’t about extravagance. It’s about balance. Awareness. Or, as they call it here, "Xundheit"– a holistic, respectful approach to feeling well. It’s in the movement, the food, the stillness. And in the care with which every space has been created.
The Similde Spa is where tired feet come back to life and mountain-weary muscles find warmth again. There are saunas and quiet rooms, but the star of the show is the glass-walled outdoor sauna – where, of course, the Rosengarten steals the scene once more.
Come summer, the garden becomes a retreat of its own – with shaded loungers and plenty of room to pause. For a dip? Choose between the spring-fed natural pond or the heated indoor-outdoor pool. Whatever the weather, there’s always somewhere to float.
And quietly, behind the scenes, the warmth that fuels it all is thoughtfully sourced: wood-chip heating, solar panels, and local hydropower. At the Cyprianerhof, sustainability isn’t a slogan – it’s just the way things are done. With intention. With care. With a long view ahead.

THE FOOD
Mornings at the Cyprianerhof begin with sunlight and mountain views – whether you’re at a window seat in the restaurant or sipping tea on the terrace. The breakfast buffet is a celebration of what’s local and seasonal: South Tyrolean cheeses, fresh fruit, crispy granola, homemade spreads and a line-up of teas that reads like a spa menu. And yes, there’s mountain spring water on tap – fresh from the Plafötsch source.
In the evening, things slow down. A five-course dinner unfolds with quiet elegance – less performance, more presence. Because here, the kitchen isn’t just about what’s trendy. It’s about identity.
Monika and her team – lovingly referred to as the “Quattro in the Kitchen” – cook together, with joy, curiosity, and zero ego. Their food tells stories: from age-old Tiers recipes to subtle Mediterranean twists, everything is thoughtfully reimagined with regional ingredients and a sense of place.
Each evening, guests can choose from South Tyrolean classics, refined meat or fish options – and always a plant-based dish that stands on its own. Not as a substitute. But as an equal. Because here, cooking isn’t just about taste. It’s about care, character and connection – and it shows on every plate.

was kann ich RUND UM DEN CYPRIANERHOF unternehmen?
First things first: lace up your boots – and step outside. Maybe into the Tschamin Valley, where a silver-blue stream winds its way past towering cliffs and the most scenic bench south of the Grasleitenhütte invites you to linger.
Or float skyward with the cabrio cable car into the heart of the Rosengarten mountains – the ride alone is pure mountain theatre. And the best part? It all begins right outside the front door.
Fancy something different? The bus stop just outside the hotel opens up even more: like a trip to the Seiser Alm, Europe’s largest alpine meadow, perfect for relaxed walks in summer or gentle cross-country skiing in winter – always accompanied by a jaw-dropping Dolomite backdrop.
Looking for a bit more adventure? The Cyprianerhof offers two to three guided experiences every day – with certified mountain pros, tailored to all levels. And quite often with Heidi, who has a story for every summit.
If you prefer to explore on your own, just grab your daypack (waiting in your room) and a tip or two from the hotel team – they know the best paths, quiet spots, and photo stops.
And when winter wraps the Rosengarten in white? That’s when a different kind of magic begins. Snowshoeing, ski touring, winter hiking, tobogganing, ice climbing – it’s all there. No pressure, no schedules – just crisp air, soft snow, and space to move at your own pace.
